Vineyard
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Reisling, Chardonnay are grown on 8.5 acres of Vignoble Rancourt Winery.
The winery is located in the Niagara Lakeshore sub-appellation which follows the shoreline of Lake Ontario from the Welland Canal east to the Niagara River and proceeds inland approximately 3 kilometers. The primary influence on this appellation is the proximity of the Lake and its year-round effect on temperatures. Soils in the area are deltaic sands and silts together with the long growing season contribute to flavour development in grapes and mature, full-bodied wines. Wines of distinction vented at Vignoble Rancourt Winery are exemplary of this Niagara-on-the-Lake sub-appellation.
New winemaker, Jean-Pierre Colas, hopes to set Vignoble Rancourt Winery apart from other producers in Niagara by offering wines of a very high identity, personality showcasing the uniqueness of the property.
